United Way honors ZCC’s Oklahoma ConocoPhillips sites
Dec. 2006
(Bartlesvile, Okla.) - The Bartlesville Regional United Way has honored the Zachry team working for ConocoPhillips in Bartlesville, Okla., for its outstanding support of the agency and the community in general during 2005.
“I have only been in Bartlesville for seven months, but the team here has already shown me it’s one great group of people that’s willing to make a difference,” said Site Manager Gary Trdy. “These employees are involved in a number of meaningful community projects, and it is our goal to keep up that effort in the years to come.”
Last year, the team in Bartlesville helped many groups and agencies, including the CONCERN Child Learning Center, a daycare for disadvantaged children that was operating with old, outdated playground equipment. ZCC volunteers moved donated playground equipment from a local church and reinstalled it at the daycare. The crew also replaced tiles and installed new flooring throughout the facility.
Additionally, the team continued an annual traditional that started in 1997 when it distributed 80 holiday food baskets to needy families during the 2005 holiday season. Employees also purchased and presented toys and other gifts to 30 foster children, including 12 bikes that went to first-time bicycle owners.
In addition to spreading holiday cheer, ZCC workers replaced the flooring in the girls’ restroom at the local Boys & Girls Club and bought supplies for an American Red Cross chili cook-off called “Chili to the Rescue.” The 126 members of the Zachry team in Bartlesville perform maintenance and construction work at ConocoPhillips’ downtown office complex and ConocoPhillips’ research and development facility.
ZCC crews have been at the location since 1997 and received the same United Way award in 2004. “As long as we are in this community, we will continue to assist in as many ways as we can,” Trdy said. “That is what we do and what we will continue to do as members of the Zachry family.”
