2005 ZCC Philanthropy Report

(San Antonio, Texas) - Zachry touched countless lives in 2005 through participation in many diverse charitable endeavors around the globe. By giving time and financial support, Zachry employees made a marked impact on the communities where they live and work.

The Zachry Foundation awarded 38 grants for new programs and initiatives, ranging in scope from the arts and humanities to social services, education and health. Additionally, the Zachry Volunteer Council, led by Executive Secretary Lanetta Knight, successfully executed volunteer initiatives benefiting 12 non-profit and educational institutions. In total, 893 executive sponsors and volunteers committed 5,380 hours toward making a difference for these agencies and their constituents.

“So many people want to give back, and I think Zachry has set a great example by providing employees the opportunity to participate in these events,” Knight said. “There is a definite philanthropic culture here, and it makes me proud to be a part of the Zachry family.”

At job sites around the world, including Cambodia, Utah, South Carolina and Florida, 43 Field Volunteer Contributions Committees to support local communities through volunteer initiatives and the annual United Way campaign. Company wide employee contributions to United Way exceeded $1.5 million, and with the 100 percent corporate match, more than $3 million will support United Way agencies. Other employees also contribute their personal time to support Zachry’s mission of social responsibility. Zachry employees serve on the boards of at least 53 non-profit organizations, providing leadership to an array of organizations from the Alzheimer’s Association to the YMCA.
