ZCC’s 2005-2006 United Way Campaign Nets $3 Million
March 2006
(San Antonio, Texas) - Seventy-seven percent of ZCC employees contributed to the company’s 2005-06 United Way campaign just months after demonstrating their generosity and support for those impacted by the recent Gulf Coast hurricanes.
“All across the country, we have examples of ZCC employees pledging dollars and time on a daily basis,” said Cathy Obriotti Green, vice president of Community Relations and special projects and 2005-2006 campaign coordinator. “We also had a very successful hurricane deduction program and then nearly simultaneously conducted United Way campaigns across the board. Our employees were so generous. Their contributions have truly been amazing.”
Several ZCC sites in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita’s devastation held local campaigns in December 2005 and January 2006 once the recovery efforts were complete.
Employee pledges totaled $1.5 million – $3 million with the corporate match – and will benefit 109 different United Way agencies across 24 states and in eastern Asia.
Projects with Field Volunteer Contribution Committees will use 25 percent of corporate matching dollars to help fund local projects in their respective communities. “Each year we take the message of ZCC’s and United Way’s partnership to each and every employee and offer them the opportunity to participate,” said Tim Watt, vice president of Corporate Risk Management and campaign chair. “The campaign is about joining together to invest in the communities where we work and to make those communities better; this campaign allows employees to decide how they want to fit into that.”
