Recognized with 2003 Marvin M. Black Award for
IH-35W/ IH-30 Mixmaster Interchange
March
2004
(Fort Worth, Texas) – In recognition
of Zachry’s receipt of the 2003 Marvin M. Black
Excellence in Partnering Award for its successes on
the “Mixmaster” Interchange in Fort Worth,
Texas, the National Partnership for Highway Quality
(NPHQ) presented a NPHQ Commendation award to ZCC. 2003
was the first year the NPHQ gave commendation awards,
and three firms, including ZCC, received the honors.
“The NPHQ puts out a call for
nominations for top quality projects across the country
that have exemplified the elements of quality that we
advocate, which are innovation in partnering, customer
service and safety,” said Bob Templeton, executive
director of the NPHQ.
Although NPHQ announced Zachry’s
award at a September award banquet in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
ZCC did not receive the award until November, at an
Associated General Contractors (AGC) luncheon in Austin,
Texas.
The award was presented by Amadeo
Saenz, assistant executive director of engineering operations
for the Texas Department of Transportation, and the
Western Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials Region representative for the American Association
of State Highway and Transportation Officials on the
NPHQ Steering Committee. Jean Abiassi, operations manager
for highways and bridges, accepted on behalf of Zachry.
According to Templeton, the NPHQ
Commendation award was given as added recognition of
Zachry’s work to achieve better highway quality.
