Zachry
Wins More CTTP Contracts to Date
Than All Other Contractors Combined
March
2004
(Central Texas) – Zachry has
been awarded a $37.6 million contract to construct a
two-mile stretch of State Highway 45 North, bringing
the company’s number of Central Texas Turnpike
Project (CTTP) awards to four – more than the
number of awards to all other CTTP contractors combined.
Of the seven CTTP contracts awarded
to-date by the Texas Department of Transportation Texas
Turnpike Authority (TTA), Zachry / Gilbert Constructors
(ZGC), a joint venture between ZCC and Gilbert Texas
Construction, L.P., has received two. ZCC has received
two others. The three other awards have gone to three
separate organizations.
ZGC first won the T-interchange between
SH 45 North and the Loop 1 extension in late 2002, and
picked up the Loop 1 extension project several months
later. Zachry then went on to earn work on U.S. Highway
183 north of SH 45 North a few months before winning
its latest contract for SH 45 North. SH 45 North, the
Loop 1 extension, SH 130 and U.S. 183 A will eventually
be the four connected toll elements comprising the 122-mile
CTTP. The project is the biggest and most expensive
toll roadwork ever undertaken in Texas, TTA’s
Austin office director Tim Weight told the Austin
American-Statesman.
