(Kiowa, Okla.)–BVZ has completed construction
of Tenaska's Kiamichi Generating Station and is moving forward
with start-up activities. The facility was put on the local
power grid at non-commercial status for four hours to synchronize
its generators and test the system.
The 1,220-Mw, combined-cycle, natural gas-fueled,
power plant consists of four combustion turbines, four heat
recovery steam generators and two steam turbines. The project
began in July 2001 and is expected to reach commercial operation
in spring 2003. Once completed, the Kiamichi Generating Station
will supply power to more than 1 million homes.
