Zachry
Construction Corporation provides construction, maintenance
and turnaround services to the refining, petrochemical and
chemical industries. ZCC’s direct-hire construction
has resulted in the completion of some of the largest petrochemical
and refinery projects on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
For example, on award of the contract
for the BASF/ FINA North American Regional Olefins Complex
(NROC), Zachry constructed the world’s largest
single-train olefins production facility. Construction
of the steam cracker and related facilities included
all construction disciplines and involved approximately
3.7 million workhours with a peak workforce of more
than 2,000 workers.
Additionally, ZCC constructed the largest
refinery expansion in the United States when we assumed the
Lyondell Citgo Refinery project. The expansion involved construction
of a sulfur recovery unit, a crude vacuum unit, a cat-feed
hydrotreater unit and general off-site and utility areas.
ZCC’s rigorous safety programs enabled our workers,
who worked near live lines, leaks, fires, gas releases and
other hazards, to achieve a total recordable incident rate
of less than 0.76 for 6 million direct work hours and 900,000
subcontracted work hours.
Our experience proves we can perform complex
grassroots or revamp projects in difficult operating environments
with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. By self-performing
a high percentage of the work and augmenting project teams
with preferred specialty contractors, ZCC provides a distinct
advantage over our competitors in our ability to deliver safe,
quality projects while controlling costs and schedules.
Our maintenance services for the petroleum
industry focus on reducing customers’ total operating
costs through improved reliability and optimized staffing.
ZCC’s ability to effectively plan and execute turnarounds
minimizes plant downtime and increase customer output. In
an era when plant owners are expanding the operating life
of existing plants, a continuously operating plant, maintained
