As
a leader in the construction industry, Zachry is committed
to creating strong, meaningful communities. We have
a relatively large workforce and project timelines that
often last for years; as a result, Zachry has both the
desire and the ability to continuously improve the quality
of life in the communities where our employees live
and work.
In LaGrange, Kentucky, for example,
Zachry volunteers brought a new lease on life to a special
family that was once lost and alone. Project volunteers
replaced a roof and gutters on the family’s house,
added a front and back deck, spread new gravel on the
driveway and made numerous other repairs.
The employees of the Zachry Joint
Venture in Moscow, Russia generously donated medical
supplies and gifts to the children of the Russian Children’s
Hospital, a facility that specializes in treating Russian
children who are terminally ill. Although the experience
left many employees with tears in their eyes, their
outpouring of love, caring and attention resulted in
much-needed gifts that will keep on giving to needy
Russian children.
In the coastal Texas town of Corpus
Christi, more than 35 Zachry employees spent countless
nights and weekends repairing and renovating an old
grocery store to create a new home for the Boys and
Girls Club of Refugio.
In Franklin, Georgia, Zachry employees
cleaned and fenced a former construction lay-down area
and constructed a landscaped nature trail. In addition
to the beauty of this magnificent trail, nearby areas
were landscaped, a playground and a pavilion were created,
and a basketball half-court and volleyball sand pit
were constructed.
In Woods Cross, Utah, Zachry volunteers
provided socks, shampoo, conditioner, craft supplies
and Happy Birthday gifts to the abused and neglected
children residing at the Davis County Shelter. These
children found hope because Zachry’s unique volunteers
took the time to care.
The foregoing are but a few of the
hundreds of Zachry volunteer projects begun and completed
over the years. Although the company’s commitment
to communities takes many forms, it is, first and foremost,
designed to create much-needed change, and to make a
difference in the hundreds of communities where we live
and work.
